To round out our poor public health picks in the Trump administration, we now get news that wellness influencer Dr. Casey Means is the new nominee for Surgeon General.
And that means that the ‘Nation’s Doctor’ will be someone without a medical license and who quit their residency early to become an influencer and sell supplements online.
Also, I haven’t seen any evidence that Casey Means is a member of the General Corps or Commissioned Corps of the U.S. Public Health Service, a requirement to be Surgeon General.

Again, Casey Means, along with her brother Calley Means, are influencers who mostly talk about how bad foods are poisoning us all.
And how everyone would be so much healthier if they simply ate organic foods from a farmer’s market and took ‘high quality supplements‘ that she conveniently sells.
Many think that she is some kind of “carefully curated agents of deep state control.”
Not surprisingly, there are a lot of people who aren’t fans of either of them.
Anti-vaccine folks are upset that Casey Means doesn’t talk about vaccines, and instead mostly focuses on food.
The funny thing is though, she does talk about vaccines too!
The problem may be that she just doesn’t always talk about vaccines…
Remember, for anti-vaccine influencers, vaccines are always harmful and everything is a vaccine injury.
Still, Casey Means, who may be our next Surgeon General, does seem to think that kids getting “20 vaccines” before they are 18 months old might be making them autistic.
It’s not, but that didn’t keep this holistic wellness influencer from talking about it.
Casey Means also talks about the $4 billion in payments from Vaccine Injury Compensation Trust Fund. She fails to mention that the payments were over 26 years (since 1989), after which kids have gotten billions of doses of vaccines.
But that should get other anti-vaccine influencers excited, right?
Casey Means also thinks that it’s a crime to give the hepatitis B vaccine to newborns, even though the initial strategy of targeting high risk newborns didn’t work.
Do anti-vaccine influencers really think they will get a “better” candidate?
Looking at her credentials, it is hard to believe that we could do much worse…
Just consider the biographies of some of the folks who have been the Surgeon General in the past and then compare them to Casey Means!
